It has recently come to my attention that a misleading survey is circulating,
distorting my positions on crucial issues. This tactic, aimed at tarnishing my character and conservative stance, is a clear sign of desperation from the opposition. I want to take this opportunity to clarify my true positions and alert the public to these deceitful tactics. It is evident how ruthless our adversaries can be when challenged. When ordinary citizens like US stand up for our core values, we face fierce opposition from those with deeper pockets and who are aligned with special interests. These types try any tactic to overshadow the voice of the common man and woman. Click here for my full response.
South Carolina has the highest tax burden in the Southeast based on tax ratios. Every year additional tax laws pass through the Supermajority REPUBLICAN legislature (counter to the Republican platform) in the way of gas tax, convenience tax, usage tax, property tax, vehicle registration taxes. In some instances, we get taxed multiple times on certain items such as road taxes generated by several different tax streams. Over the last few years, the State had excess tax revenue, this year residents will receive a small refund and a .5% income tax rate decrease. Although, most of your excess tax dollars went to projects such as Scout Motors in the tune of $1.6B dollars. There's another $1.8B dollars that was found in an unreported account that the legislature is working through what comes next with the funds. Surely, the Legislature will return all excess funds to the rightful owner, YOU the taxpayer, and not earmark pet projects or give away to foreign companies with grand tax incentives SC citizens or small businesses don't receive.
I have a bold plan to eliminate the State Income Tax IMMEDIATELY, not slow roll a .5% every year over several year period that was approved by our current legislature. This will put more money in the pockets of every South Carolinian, empower individual choice on what to spend the funds on, and subsequently fuel the local economy. Many current Republican legislators will tell you this cannot be done and fight the process even as proclaimed Republicans that stand for low taxes.
Development within Dorchester County is thriving to a point where we now see horrible traffic and severe flooding on our major roadways. Calculated managed growth is required to properly build supporting infrastructure to accommodate the population growth within our district through legislation.
The way ahead is to pass legislation including the following;
For years the government has been encroaching and manipulating our education system, by masking our history, traditions, and values. There has been a drastic departure from traditional academic curriculum and that needs to stop now. This new divisive curriculum embodies hatred, based on one’s race, gender, or sex with attempts to displace our religious beliefs and freedom as a whole. Which is why I will fight for government policies that support religious values and beliefs. I hold a deep-rooted belief that every parent has responsibility to teach their children under the age of 18 about all of the dangers in society and set the moral and ethical groundwork, so that their child can make their own educated decisions when they become an adult. As an adult of 18 years or older, their decision-making process is squarely in the hands of the individual and not a government agency.
I support legislation that;
To make my stance crystal clear, the 2nd Amendment is non-negotiable, PERIOD.
We don't have a firearms issue, WE HAVE A CRIMINAL ISSUE based on the judicial system failure to hold criminals accountable.
Our most valuable RIGHT in America is the RIGHT to VOTE. This RIGHT is nothing if not counted appropriately during an election. Without legitimate elections the RIGHT to VOTE is nothing more than words on paper giving the elite the route to install their choice of leader. Protecting the right to vote and the weighted value of each legal vote is the only way to maintain our democracy.
I support legislation that;
In recent months we have seen government overreach regarding civil liberties and individual rights. The biggest issue is vaccines and the right to choose and preserve individual autonomy. Now, we see surrounding states opting for Vaccine IDs to enter into a restaurant and other establishments.
At no point will I support a Vaccine Mandate or passport
As a parent of two children, I never agreed to co-parent with anyone in the government.
I will always support legislation that solidifies the following
Landmark case that should stop any parental rights incursion from the government.

Kelly Georgene Routten v. John Tyler Routten
Excerpt
Glucksberg, 521 U.S. 702 (1997), that the Constitution, and specifically the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, protects the fundamental right of parents to direct the care, upbringing, and education of their children.
As we see violent and nonviolent crimes from around the country aired on news channels daily, it is reported SC and our district is not immune. At the beginning of Feb, I attended a briefing from a Dorchester Deputy regarding domestic violence within our district. The numbers shown were eye opening to say the least following the COVID lockdown. The trouble with these crimes is the reporting or lack of reporting, it is believed that roughly 60-70% go without reports to authority. Even when reported and a conviction via court the mandatory penalty is being eroded by our legislature with bills such as H-3623 (my opponent sponsored) that focuses on nonviolent and drug charges as a starting point. If we don't hold criminals accountable for their actions, this is detrimental to order within society and violates the victim's constitutional rights if the criminal is not held accountable.
The state of SC is one of two states (SC and VA) that allow the Judicial process to take place solely within the legislative branch without input from the Governor or SC Citizens. Currently, SC has the selection process placed in the Judiciary committee. The committee of 25 (1 vacancy) lawyer/legislators identify, screen, and selects up to three candidates for each vacancy to send to the general assembly to take a floor vote for appointment.
This process has brought many questions into light over the years as well as several bills to limit nepotism and favoritism to candidates being filed to only fail in the judiciary committee. It is imperative SC pass legislation that.
1. moves the nomination process to the Governor, followed by the general assembles screening the nominee through public hearings to determine fitness to assume the appointment.
or
2. moves the process to the lowest level (individual voters) to afford the citizens of a district to select the judge they would stand before in a trial process.
In addition, legislation needs to be passed to eliminate immediate family members of individuals in elected positions to be appointed to positions within the Judicial system for a period of time the family member serves plus three years following departure.
As a Combat Veteran and 3rd generation Military retired, the Military and Veteran will always be in the top of my priority list. These men and woman sacrificed to serve this Nation and have EARNED the debt of gratitude the State of South Carolina’s elected officials should keep in mind during ALL legislative actions.
